Stored items in your SharePoint workspace may sometime indicate a problem such as edit conflict or synchronization error. Along with that you may sometime notice that synchronization error indicators appended to lists in a SharePoint workspace listed in the Launchbar. These errors are typically related to user authentication.
Solution to resolve conflicts and errors in a SharePoint workspace document library
Types of conflict or error states:
In a document library you may get three types of conflict or error conditions each of which is denoted by different indicator.
Get Available Updates
In such case, the indicated document doesn’t contain the most recent content. This condition may happen with certain file types that don’t automatically synchronize when they are updated, such as Microsoft OneNote files.
Documents in this state is gets appended with a sync icon.
Edit Conflicts
In this case the document is being edited on the server and in the SharePoint workspace. A conflict error icon gets overlays on the file type icon in order to indicate this condition.
Errors
Errors typically results from insufficient server permissions. Suppose you add, edit or delete a document in a document library in a SharePoint workspace. You have the corresponding SharePoint server permissions to upload these changes during the next synchronization. If you don’t have the required permission the document is comes under the error state. In document library both items and folder may indicate errors.
Steps To Resolve Conflicts And Errors In Sharepoint Workspace Document Library
For all types of conflict or error conditions, use the resolve tab, as described in the following sections.
Use the resolve tab to resolve conflicts and errors. The resolve tab appears in the ribbon whenever any document goes into a conflict or error state.
To fix conflicts or errors, select items that indicate a conflict or error state and then click Resolve Conflict or Error. SharePoint gives different options as described in the following sections, depending on whether the item is in a conflict or in error state or simply needs to download update content.
Getting available updates
If the download icon is appended to a document item then this means that it doesn’t contain the most current content.
Select the document item that contains download icon
Click the Resolve
Click Get Available Updates.
Resolving document item conflicts
1. Select the document item that has the conflict icon.
2. Click the Resolve and then tap to Resolve Conflict or Error option.
This will opens the Microsoft Office Upload Center window opens, and figure out all the documents that is indicating a conflict.
3. Click Resolve to get the options for resolving the conflict.
For example, you can also open the document to view and compare changes with the server version, save a copy of the document in the SharePoint workspace to a local or network folder, or simply discard the recent changes in the SharePoint workspace version of the file.
4. Hit the close box in the Upload Center window if you are done with resolving the edit conflict.
